About GetFixCost
Learn about our mission to bring transparency, data-backed realism, and independent pricing benchmarks to American homeowners.
Welcome to GetFixCost. We built this resource with a single guiding mission: to ensure American homeowners know the realistic, fair cost of home repairs and replacements before calling a contractor for an estimate.
The Problem with Contractor Quote Finding
When a major mechanical or structural system breaks—whether a furnace fails in sub-zero January weather or a roof develops a persistent leak during torrential rain—homeowners are thrust into an emergency situation. The traditional internet search for repair costs has become increasingly frustrating:
- Lead-generation aggregators gate basic cost data behind high-pressure lead forms, selling homeowner telephone numbers and email addresses to dozens of local contractors within seconds.
- Sponsored pricing calculators frequently understate or overstate labor rates to steer consumers toward specific contractor networks or financing products.
- Generic nationwide averages fail to account for regional wage disparities, local building code requirements, permit overhead, or material tier grades.
Our Research Methodology
GetFixCost operates as an independent editorial research project. We do not operate a contractor referral network, we do not sell homeowner leads, and we do not collect commissions from tradespeople.
Costs are compiled by our editorial team from publicly available cost guides, manufacturer and retailer pricing, and government wage data, then compared against each other. They are estimates, not quotes.
Our team reviews multiple sources including trade publications, wholesaler catalogs, Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, and consumer cost guides to establish realistic pricing ranges for typical residential projects.
Editorial Integrity & Transparency
We do not claim to hold active contractor licenses in all fifty states, nor do we invent fictional staff personae with fabricated licenses. Our authors are research analysts who consult published technical codes, manufacturer specifications, and industry sources.
Every cost range presented on our website represents an estimate based on standard industry assumptions. Because physical site conditions, concealed damage, hazardous material remediation, and supply chain fluctuations impact every residential project differently, our benchmarks are designed to serve as your informed baseline—not a legally binding quote.
